Automations

How to Skip Specific Actions When Moving an Opportunity

When dragging an opportunity into a stage, you can now untick individual automation actions that don't apply — without touching the automation itself.

When you drag an opportunity into a stage, TrustPager runs whatever automations are configured for that stage. Most of the time that's exactly what you want. But sometimes one or two of those actions don't apply to this particular client or situation — and now you can skip them without touching the automation itself.

When to Use It

The most common case: you have a stage with several automated actions, and the right subset varies per opportunity. Take a "Sent New Client Form" stage that sends the intake form, a welcome email, a Xero access request, an admin notification, and creates a follow-up task. For a particular engagement type — say, an advisory client who already has Xero set up — the Xero access request isn't relevant. Drag the card, untick that one action, confirm. The other four fire. No need to split the automation into fragments or kill the trigger entirely.

Other cases where this is useful:

  • You've already sent an email manually and don't want the automated version to duplicate it
  • You're doing a legacy tidy-up run — moving a batch of existing clients through stages without wanting all the new-client actions to fire

How to Use It

Drag an opportunity card into a stage that has automations enabled. If any of those automations are active, a confirmation modal opens before the card drops.

The modal lists each automation with its name and icon. A toggle on each row lets you include or exclude the whole automation. For any automation with more than one action, the individual actions appear as a nested list directly below it — each with its own toggle, visible immediately, no extra click needed. Single-action automations show no nested list.

Untick whichever actions you want to skip, then confirm. The rest fire as normal.

Skipped Actions & Audit Trail

Skipped actions are recorded on the automation run record for audit — stored alongside the actions that fired and failed. Surfacing the full breakdown in the run detail view is on the roadmap.

Tip: This feature only appears when the destination stage has at least one enabled automation. If you don't see the modal, check that the automation is active at https://app.trustpager.com/auto/automations.
