Connect Stripe and Take Payments on Invoices

Connect your own Stripe account to your TrustPager workspace, create invoices on opportunities, generate Stripe payment links, and let customers pay via the client portal or invoice email.

TrustPager lets you connect your own Stripe account directly to your workspace. Once connected, you can create invoices on any opportunity, generate a Stripe payment link with one click, and your clients see a Pay now button in the client portal and in every invoice email you send them. When they pay, TrustPager marks the invoice paid automatically and fires your payment automation.

This article covers the workspace-level Stripe Connect integration and the native invoicing flow. If you use Xero for accounting, see https://www.trustpager.com/help-center/xero-send-invoice instead (TrustPager hides the native invoice button when Xero is connected). For the website checkout integration (auto-create opportunities from a Stripe-hosted purchase page), see https://www.trustpager.com/help-center/how-to-connect-stripe.

Connect your Stripe account

Go to https://app.trustpager.com/settings/integrations and find the Stripe card. Click Connect. You will be taken through Stripe's OAuth flow to authorise TrustPager access to your Stripe account. Once you approve, you are returned to TrustPager and the Stripe card shows as connected.

This is a workspace-level connection. Any admin or editor in your workspace can then use it to generate payment links on invoices.

Create an invoice on an opportunity

  1. Open the opportunity. Scroll to the Invoices section (below the Products card).
  2. Click New invoice. The invoice creation form opens.
  3. Add line items: give each one a name, quantity, and unit price. Totals calculate automatically.
  4. Set a due date and optionally a reference number.
  5. Click Create invoice. The invoice appears in the Invoices section.

You can create as many invoices as you need on an opportunity: a deposit invoice, a progress invoice, and a final balance invoice, for example.

Generate a Stripe payment link

Once an invoice exists, open it and click Create payment link. TrustPager creates a Stripe-hosted payment link on your connected account and stores it on the invoice. From that point:

  • A Pay now button appears on the invoice in the client portal, pointing to the Stripe checkout page.
  • The same Pay now button appears in every invoice email you send from that invoice.

Payment links are one-time by default. For a subscription (recurring charge), see the Recurring payments section below.

Send the invoice

Click Send invoice on the invoice card. TrustPager sends an email via TrustPager Mail to the contact linked to the opportunity. The email includes:

  • The invoice line items and totals.
  • The due date and reference.
  • A Pay now button if a payment link has been created, or bank/BPAY details if no link exists.

You can resend the invoice at any time from the invoice card.

What happens when the customer pays

When your client completes the Stripe checkout:

  1. Stripe notifies TrustPager via webhook.
  2. TrustPager marks the invoice as Paid automatically.
  3. A payment succeeded automation trigger fires on the opportunity. Wire this trigger to a Move opportunity action to shift the opportunity into a "Payment Made" stage so your existing payment automations run.

Recurring payments (subscriptions)

To charge a client on a repeating schedule, generate the payment link as a subscription. On the Create payment link dialog, choose a billing period: daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly. The payment link then charges the full invoice total each period until cancelled. You manage and cancel active subscriptions in your Stripe dashboard.

View invoice and payment history

Every invoice and its payment status is visible on the opportunity in the Invoices section. For a full log of every Stripe charge, refund, and subscription event across your workspace, see https://www.trustpager.com/help-center/stripe-payment-logs.

Troubleshooting

I do not see a "New invoice" button. If Xero is connected to your workspace, TrustPager hides the native invoice button and uses Xero for invoicing instead. Disconnect Xero from https://app.trustpager.com/settings/integrations if you want to switch to native invoicing, or see https://www.trustpager.com/help-center/xero-send-invoice for the Xero flow.

"Create payment link" is greyed out. Stripe must be connected at https://app.trustpager.com/settings/integrations before payment links can be generated.

The invoice was not marked paid after the customer paid. TrustPager relies on the Stripe webhook to mark invoices paid. If your workspace was reconnected to Stripe after the invoice was created, or if the webhook missed an event, open the invoice and click Sync payment status to pull the latest from Stripe manually.

The payment automation did not fire. Check that an automation with a Payment succeeded trigger exists and is active on https://app.trustpager.com/tools/automations. The trigger fires once per invoice when Stripe confirms payment.

To sell products through an automated order pipeline, see https://www.trustpager.com/help-center/ecommerce-store-orders. Ecommerce stores use your connected Stripe account for checkout automatically.
